Confessions of a Shopaholic: Visit La Cañada Shopping Centre

In need of retail therapy?

What´s life without a little bit of retail therapy?  I am sure that Becky Bloomwood of the Shopaholic Series would agree with me on that one. Having one of those days where it’s pelting down with rain and you have that sensation of restlessness and a crazy desire to get out of the house before you all drive yourselves mad.  Well if so, do not despair, for La Canada Shopping centre has something to offer each member of the family.  Not only is it fantastic shopping but also great for those just wishing to grab a cosy cappuccino, participate in a bowling game or improve their Spanish linguistic skills at the cinema.

La Canada Shopping Centre is probably the best in the Marbella region and the most accessible for those people travelling from Manilva, Casares, Estepona and San Pedro.  This modern shopping centre offers a fantastic selection of shops and restaurants.

The complex is open from 10am -10pm from Monday to Saturday and has free parking, both under and over-ground. For those of you with young kids, no need to fumble around for that parking ticket whilst hastily trying to strap your kids in the car in order to make it out before your ticket expires.  Free parking just takes some of the stress away from shopping trips with the family.

The great thing about La Canada is that there is something for each member of a family.  For those people wanting to shop with a mission, there are numerous excellent stores from the value for money stores such as H&M and C&A, to trendy Spanish stores such as Zara and Mango, elegant shops such as Caramelo and Massimo Dutti.  And don’t fear, it’s not only clothing – the FNAC there is fabulous boasting a good range of books and technology, Leroy Merlin for those DIY addicts, Intersport for those sports fanatics out there and Boulanger if you need a new camera or PC.

If shopping is not what you want and you´re a bit of a health fanatic there is a large gym, healthy restaurant, natural juice bar and if you fancy walking a bit, laps around the centre whilst window shopping make quite a good pastime.  Alternatively if this sounds far too health conscious to you, why not nip in to Ben and Jerry’s and indulge in one of their delicious desserts. The choice is endless..

If dining at La Canada, one can go for fast foods such as McDonald’s, KFC, Burger King or something more substantial such as Italian, Mexican, Spanish and American.

La Canada also boasts an eight screen Cinesa cinema.  The cinema is a great hit with kids due to the fabulous choice of ‘pick and mix’ sweets and chocolates at the entrance to the cinema.  There are also special seats for kids to sit on.

Finally the bowling and amusement centre offer hours of fun to families.  Usually I find, it works as a good bribe to get kids to behave whilst you shop around all day and keep that as their treat for the end of the day, if they behave well!
